The first thing to do is to pull over to the side of the road then put your 4 ways on get out of the car look under the carpet in the trunk for the spare tire and jack, before you jack it up losen the lug nuts a little bit but dont take them totaly off, then read the side off the jack to tell you were to put it so it supports the wieght. then jack it up so the tire is 3-4 inches off the ground then take the tire iron and losen the bolts till they fall off. then you should take the tire off and put it in the trunk. then you should put the spare on and tighten it untill you cant turn it. then let the jack down slowly(never get under the car because you cant trust the jack).

due 7/29 FINAL EXAM
The first place i visited was the doctors and i looked at some posters and learned about how alcohol can cause memory lose and causes brain damage. Then i looked at a marijuana poster and learned that it kills brain cells and you misjudge speed and braking while driving,marijuana affects the cerebellum and the hippo campus. The cerebellum controls your balance and posture. When marijuana is in your system your cerebellum is affected causing you to have bad coordination and bad road tracking. Then i looked at a cat scan and learned that if you crash at 10 mph it will still give you brain damage even though your not really even going that fast, brain injuries are very bad they mess up taste, senses and even cause mood swings it can even make tying your shoes difficult if you get a real bad brain injuries in some cases you have to re-learn everything like walking, talking. Then i put together a picture of a brain and learned what an injury looks like in a cat scan photo. Then i learned that the use of a seat belt reduces your risk of dieing in a car crash by 60%. More teens die each year then any age group by 80% because they didn't wear their seat belts. So wear you seat belt.

Another way is to FIND ANOTHER DRIVER and that driver would be someone sober and good friends with the person that needs a ride home and they trust each other. DELAY THE DRIVER what that means is to say hey i think you should stay longer because i have to tell you something and it will give you time to sober up and then you will be able to drive ALOT SAFER and not be drunk, just try to waste time. USE ANOTHER ANGLE talk to them and if your good friends they mite listen tell them you don't want them driving and its not safe. When talking to them make sure your away from every one because you don't want to embarrass them or anger them. You never want to let them go without trying every thing possible. Then i watched a couple videos one was a family victim who talked about there daughter Amanda, she was with a couple of friends and they were at an intersection turning left when all the sudden a car ran a red light at 70 mph and hit them broadside, Amanda died immediately because of a broken neck. Then there was an impaired victim that was convicted of drunken driving and went to jail because he hit a vehicle in front of him and the passenger got killed and he was drinking and driving so he got homicide charges. Drinking and driving is very bad and you should not do it because your dangering peoples lives.
Then i visited the lawyer and looked at case penalties of a girl who was drunk and ran a stop light and hit a vehicle and killed 4 teens and injured one. I looked at the defense and they said she wasn't drunk and the blood test didn't get refrigerated so its not accurate. The prosecution said she had 5 alcoholic drinks and she was speeding 60mph and she lied to police about the number of drinks she had. I chose the verdict guilty second degree and the jury agreed with me. Then i listened to the victims statements on how they miss there loved ones, she got a minimum sentence of 60 years.
Then i looked at the financial cost and i learned the definition of a total car and that is the cost to repair the damage is greater then the value of the car. Then they showed me the cost of getting into a crash, DUI or being taken into custody $50 towing fee, $137 for holding your car, $100 for restricted license, the insurance cost $10,800, then an alcohol education program $585, your defense attorney will cost $2,000, the court cost is $406. Your probation fee is $44, then you have to give money to the fund for head injuries which is $120, The lawyer said this is an average so it may even cost more so stay out of trouble.

Poczobut admitted to police that he was behind the wheel of the pickup involved a fatal hit-and-run Wednesday morning in East Poultney, but didn't say much else, according to a Vermont State Police affidavit filed in court Thursday."Poczobut advised (the detective) that he was driving the truck that was involved in the accident," the affidavit stated. "He further admitted driving the truck and smashing the truck, but on advise of his attorney he would not talk further with (the detective)."Vermont State Police say Poczobut was the driver who struck and killed 74-year-old Paul Delorenzi on the Thrall Road Bridge in East Poultney around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Poczobut then fled the scene, and following an extensive manhunt around western Rutland County he was taken into custody about five hours later.Delorenzi was taken by ambulance to Rutland Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead as a result of multiple injuries suffered in the crash, police said. A doctor at the hospital later told police, "There is no way the operator of a motor vehicle would not know that he struck a pedestrian," the affidavit stated. Woman is killed in Route 153 crashJuly 17, 2007

A 33-year-old woman was killed late Sunday night when she lost control of her vehicle on Route 153 in West Rupert and crashed into a tree and then a house before the vehicle rolled over onto its roof.Vermont State Police said Melanie J. Neil was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.Police said the crash took place around 11:15 p.m. Sunday. Neil was driving a 1993 Honda Accord east when she lost control for some unknown reason and drove of the south side of the road.Police said Neil was not wearing a seat belt and there were no passengers.In addition to state police, firefighters from Rupert and Salem, N.Y., responded to the scene.Police said the crash remains under investigation.

Wednesday, July 18MARLBORO -- The state police and the town will be working together to curb traffic concerns along Route 9.
At last week's Selectboard meeting, Brattleboro barracks commander Lt. Rick Hopkins told the board that state troopers did, in fact, police the town roads, not just Route 9, a notion expressed by the board the week before.
When Hopkins read a recent article in the Reformer about speeding on Route 9, he immediately called up the Selectboard to set up a meeting.
Having read about the town and board's concerns and feelings of helplessness, Hopkins wanted to discuss possible solutions to the problem.
There is a lot of communication between the sheriff's department and the state police, he said, so "if there's a sustained, continuous problem on a road and you told the sheriff's department about it, I'd expect to hear about it," and respond.
And when Selectboard member Lucy Gratwick asked for specific amounts of time spent policing back roads, Hopkins assured her that a larger staff was on its way.
While the state police are busy right now, Hopkins said there will be three more people on staff by the end of the summer.

Right now, "We start with places where the accidents are."
Hopkins had applied for and received a $10,000 grant from the state to aid in accident reduction on Route 9, specifically for the section running through Marlboro. This was used for 2005 and 2006, but the grant focus has since changed, Hopkins said, so he could not re-apply.
There was a limited impact, he explained, because real change requires a few years of work. "It's kind of tough to make a big difference in one year," he said.
Hopkins agreed that last year was particularly difficult, with several fatal accidents on Route 9. "There are good years and bad years. Last year was a bad year and we couldn't explain why," he said.
It was clear that something needed to be done.
State Police Lt. Bill O'Leary applied for a grant to create a position for a crash data analyst.
"With the number of fatalities we saw over the years, it became an issue to get real time crash data from Vermont," O'Leary explained.
Sarah Kepchar, the new analyst, has spent most of the past two months training.
"She's going to be able to get us data about crash patterns and causes," O'Leary said. "She's just now getting her feet wet. We're hoping, in the next couple of months, to get data reports out to the field commanders." While some accidents, such as weather-related crashes, cannot be fixed by enforcement, Hopkins said, "a lot of them you can."
"What we think we're seeing is faster drivers," Selectboard member Craig Hammond said.
"It seems people are more distracted when they're driving and just fly," Selectboard Chairwoman Gail MacArthur added. "With new cars, you don't know you're going so fast."

Two people were killed and two others suffered serious injuries after the five-car crash on I-95 northbound in Attleboro early Saturday morning.

The multi-car crash occurred when a 1998 Honda Civic driven by Isaac D. Souza, 21, from Leominster, Mass., entered the breakdown lane, striking an unoccupied 1997 Honda Accord.
The Civic then spun back into the highway and set in motion a crash involving three other vehicles.
Souza was declared dead at the scene. The driver of a 2004 Dodge Dakota, Michael G. Doble, 36, from North Attleboro, was killed when his truck rolled over. Claudia DeLeone, 22, and Jose Gouveia, 21, suffered serious injuries and were taken to Rhode Island Hospital. A 16-year-old suffered minor injuries in the crash.
Police said they are looking for anyone who might have information about the two cars that may have left after the accident.

3rd part its good to drive with a 4 second following distance because if the car infront stops you will be able to make a nice smooth stop and you will have a good reaction distance, its also good because if the car infronts crashes into another car you will see it and be able to stop or go around,and if some one was following you with a 4 second following distance you wouldnt get rear ended .

A 33-year-old woman was killed late Sunday night when she lost control of her vehicle on Route 153 in West Rupert and crashed into a tree and then a house before the vehicle rolled over onto its roof.Vermont State Police said Melanie J. Neil was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.Police said the crash took place around 11:15 p.m. Sunday. Neil was driving a 1993 Honda Accord east when she lost control for some unknown reason and drove of the south side of the road.Police said Neil was not wearing a seat belt and there were no passengers.In addition to state police, firefighters from Rupert and Salem, N.Y., responded to the scene.Police said the crash remains under investigation.

Wednesday, July 18MARLBORO -- The state police and the town will be working together to curb traffic concerns along Route 9.
At last week's Selectboard meeting, Brattleboro barracks commander Lt. Rick Hopkins told the board that state troopers did, in fact, police the town roads, not just Route 9, a notion expressed by the board the week before.
When Hopkins read a recent article in the Reformer about speeding on Route 9, he immediately called up the Selectboard to set up a meeting.
Having read about the town and board's concerns and feelings of helplessness, Hopkins wanted to discuss possible solutions to the problem.
There is a lot of communication between the sheriff's department and the state police, he said, so "if there's a sustained, continuous problem on a road and you told the sheriff's department about it, I'd expect to hear about it," and respond.
And when Selectboard member Lucy Gratwick asked for specific amounts of time spent policing back roads, Hopkins assured her that a larger staff was on its way.
While the state police are busy right now, Hopkins said there will be three more people on staff by the end of the summer.

Right now, "We start with places where the accidents are."
Hopkins had applied for and received a $10,000 grant from the state to aid in accident reduction on Route 9, specifically for the section running through Marlboro. This was used for 2005 and 2006, but the grant focus has since changed, Hopkins said, so he could not re-apply.
There was a limited impact, he explained, because real change requires a few years of work. "It's kind of tough to make a big difference in one year," he said.
Hopkins agreed that last year was particularly difficult, with several fatal accidents on Route 9. "There are good years and bad years. Last year was a bad year and we couldn't explain why," he said.
It was clear that something needed to be done.
State Police Lt. Bill O'Leary applied for a grant to create a position for a crash data analyst.
"With the number of fatalities we saw over the years, it became an issue to get real time crash data from Vermont," O'Leary explained.
Sarah Kepchar, the new analyst, has spent most of the past two months training.
"She's going to be able to get us data about crash patterns and causes," O'Leary said. "She's just now getting her feet wet. We're hoping, in the next couple of months, to get data reports out to the field commanders." While some accidents, such as weather-related crashes, cannot be fixed by enforcement, Hopkins said, "a lot of them you can."
"What we think we're seeing is faster drivers," Selectboard member Craig Hammond said.
"It seems people are more distracted when they're driving and just fly," Selectboard Chairwoman Gail MacArthur added. "With new cars, you don't know you're going so fast."

BOSTON -- A motorcyclist was seriously injured after being hit by a tractor-trailer truck on Route 1 South in Sharon Thursday.
The accident occurred near the Route 27 intersection about 11:45 a.m. and the truck operator did not stop.
The motorcyclist, who has not been identified, was taken by MedFlight to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.
i cant believe that the truck driver hit and ran, thats terrible. If the truck driver gets caught he should go to jail and lose his license.

Thursday, July 12PITTSFIELD — A city man was killed early yesterday morning in a one-vehicle crash on Highland Avenue.
Jared Benham, 21, of Constitution Road, was traveling northbound on Highland Avenue in a 1999 Ford Explorer at around 1:41 a.m. when he lost control over the vehicle in the 200 block and collided with a tree, according to police.
The young man was pronounced dead at the scene by Medical Examiner Benjamin Glick.
The Pittsfield Police and Fire departments and an ambulance from American Medical Response responded to the scene.
Though speed is believed to be a factor in the crash, the collision is still under investigation by members of the Pittsfield Police Accident Investigation Unit.
Police issued an appeal for accident witnesses to come forward.
Those who can help should contact the police at (413) 448-9723.

stage 1 learners permit you must be at least 15 years of age must have no record with the dmv with in the last two years. you must have your parents parmission to get it. Must have it for 1 year to go for your juniors operator license. you must drive with somone that is 25 or older and they have to have there license also, the adult must sit in the passenger seat. if you get caught speeding its 3 pionts 6 pionts total. Driving without the person described above will cause you not to be able to get your license.have to have 40 hours of practice driving before getting license

I think its good that you have to go through these stages because if you didn't you wouldn't be experienced enough when you get your license and could crash and hurt yourself or others. I also think its good that you have to wait 3 months to drive with your friends because you are not used to driving and if they were talking you could get distracted and crash, and after the 3 months you would be used to driving and would be able to drive with friends.

1) The horn is a great way to communicate with drivers because if you were going around a sharp corner on a skinny dirt road you could beep your horn to let them know your going around it.
2) Brake lights are a good way to communicate too because if you hit the brakes the lights will light up and the person behind you will know your slowing down.
3)Blinkers are another way to communicate because if you put on your left blinker they will know that your turning left.
4) Headlights are also a good communcation way because if you were to flash them at someone driving by they will know that theres danger ahead.
